Homework is assigned every day, Monday – Thursday. First grade will receive weekly packets, due Friday. Second grade will use a homework agenda to write down daily assignments which are due the following day. Periodically there will be longer term assignments/projects with due dates indicated. All students will use his/her Diamond Point Mustang folder to organize work and office communications. Folders must be brought to school every day.
Students normally receive one English Language Arts assignment, one math assignment, and one additional skill or spiral review page (example: printing, math facts or strategies) each day. Social Studies and Science assignments can also be expected throughout the year.
Students are required to read at least 20 minutes each evening and complete a weekly reading log - due every Friday. Parents are asked to initial each day the required reading is met on the Diamond Point Project RED (Read Each Day) calendar. The calendar is due at the beginning of each month and is entered into a drawing for prizes. Homework that is missing, incomplete, incorrect or illegible may be re-assigned during morning recess or over the weekend.
Please help your child establish a homework routine and ensure that he/she has a quiet place and the time to complete assignments. It is the student’s responsibility to complete all of the required assignments. Assist your child if he/she is having difficulties, but do not do the homework for him/her. It will be your responsibility to make sure that the work is complete and to initial the assignments each day when it has been finished.
